We are thrilled to announce that Sean has been awarded the Gane Trust Award 2024!
The Gane Trust, established in 1954 by Crofton Gane, champions excellence in art, design, and craftsmanship. This year's judging took place at the Society of Designer Craftsmen’s Bankside exhibition, where Sean proudly exhibited four pieces. These were the Oxford Table, The Celtic Vase, the Hawthorn Chair and the Two Log Tables.
The judges sought work that exemplified innovation, meticulous craftsmanship, and pieces that provoke thought about the role of craft in the broader world of art. Sean’s creations impressed the panel with their originality, technical mastery, and ability to challenge perceptions.
The award holds a rich legacy, with its first recipient being the legendary furniture designer and maker Alan Peters. Widely regarded as one of the greatest British furniture designers and makers of all time, Alan Peters has inspired generations of makers with his pioneering approach to fine furniture. Sean is honoured and proud to stand beside him on this list of award winners!
